It was in 1948 that «The Chair» was created by Charles and Ray Eames. Like the sculpture «Floating Figure» by artist Gaston Lachaise from which they were inspired, the designer couple birthed a unique and remarkable work. During a competition organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, they designed this model, today considered as an exceptional object.
Adopting an organic design reminiscent of the shape of the initial sculpture, «The Chair» is distinguished by the multiple positions that can be adopted. Sitting, lying down, alone or sharing with another person, this piece does not shackle us with constraints … giving free rein to our desires. Sometimes conducive to reading, relaxation or exchange, «The Chair» is also appreciated for its decorative value.
Placed in a VIP lounge or a high-end showroom, it gives an artistic dimension to the decor, while bringing a real presence.
